Mar 27th - Jane Goodall, Botanical Textile Painting

After a long academic career at Cambridge, Jane turned her scientific knowledge towards creative exploration, combining natural chemistry with artistic expression.?Her work focuses on creating intricate, naturally dyed prints on silk, wool, cotton, and linen – each one a true interaction between plant and textile. During this demonstration, Jane will take us through the entire process, from selecting and preparing leaves, to using heat and mordants to achieve permanent, vivid prints.?She will discuss the principles behind eco-printing and demonstrate how knowledge of natural dyes and materials can be used to produce beautiful, sustainable art.
